Life does not get better by chance; Life gets better by change

Updated: Nov 15, 2023

Most people dream of winning the big lottery, becoming wealthy, and never having to work again. The odds are incredibly slim at 1 in 300 million, but here's the thing: there's still a chance. And when I do win, I'll use my winnings to buy a big house, a new car, and all the things I've ever wanted. The fact that there's a 1 in 300 million chance of winning speaks volumes in itself.

Now, if I were to shift my mindset and channel the same level of determination and enthusiasm into a more realistic goal, I might not become an instant millionaire, but I could certainly position myself for reasonable success. I wanted to discuss three key points by Les Brown that really resonated with me.

In a video, Les Brown emphasized three key points:

  • Change your mindset: Life doesn't necessarily give you what you want; it gives you what you are. This means that if you're driven, consistent, and unwavering in your pursuit of your goals, you can turn them into reality.

  • Practice OQP, which stands for "Only Quality People": This means surrounding yourself with like-minded individuals. If you're thinking big, then you should also associate with people who have a similar mindset. This creates a positive environment and fosters a collective can-do mentality that can propel you towards success in any endeavor.

  • Develop your communication skills: As Les Brown said, "once you open your mouth, you tell the world who you are." Your ability to express yourself effectively can open doors that might otherwise remain closed. Being able to communicate in a way that garners respect from your peers is crucial for your personal and professional growth.
